    SIDEKICK Performance is a high-capacity instrument hub designed to simplify how oceanographic sensors and imaging systems are powered, controlled, and logged during deployments. It supports mixed payloads combining up to five serial instruments, an Ethernet-based device such as a video camera, and a dedicated serial output, allowing environmental sensors and high-bandwidth imaging systems to operate together within a single, unified platform. All data streams — including video, sensor measurements, and system events — are time-aligned to ensure clean correlation during post-processing.

    Built on the Sixclear JADE software environment, SIDEKICK Performance enables users to define mission behavior using configurable state-machine workflows, such as automated start/stop sequences, conditional power cycling, and error monitoring. Internal solid-state storage provides ample onboard capacity, with options to expand up to 4 TB for data- and video-intensive missions. Just as importantly, SIDEKICK Performance is designed to be learned quickly and reconfigured easily, allowing users to adapt to evolving payloads and mission requirements without redesigning hardware or committing to a single fixed setup. Whether deployed on a CTD rosette, mooring, towed system, or standalone platform, it provides a robust and flexible backbone for modern, data-rich oceanographic operations.
