Product Description:

PowerCore is a modular subsea battery enclosure designed to provide reliable, mission-adaptable power for oceanographic instruments and systems. It features a pressure-rated housing equipped with an external on/off switch, a dedicated power output switch, and a pressure relief valve (PRV) to mitigate internal overpressure in the event of battery failure or gas release. Integrated fusing and diode protection help safeguard both the battery pack and connected instruments during operation.

PowerCore supports multiple battery configurations to match logistical constraints and mission requirements. A removable internal container accommodates 42 standard D-cells arranged in a 14S3P configuration, offering a solution that is easy to source worldwide and free from shipping restrictions.

For higher current draws and longer endurance, PowerCore can be configured with deep-cycle sealed lead-acid batteries organized in a 2S2P arrangement, providing improved voltage stability under load. Alternatively, LiFePO₄ battery packs can be installed in the same rack format, delivering higher energy density and significantly reduced weight, while benefiting from integrated battery management systems that protect against over-discharge and fault conditions.

Designed with field operations in mind, PowerCore emphasizes practicality and serviceability. D-cell packs are quick to swap, with clearly organized internal holders that simplify handling on deck. Rechargeable battery configurations are equally straightforward: the internal battery rack is easily removed, and charging is accomplished through a simple quick-connect interface. By supporting multiple chemistries within a single enclosure, PowerCore avoids locking users into a one-time configuration and allows power systems to evolve alongside changing payloads and mission profiles.
